Battle Royale

Knowing that America are going to remake this, it is my sworn duty to get everyone interested in the original before they RUIN it. It is a foregone conclusion that they will. They really suck at anything violent and pscycological when it comes to film making

Be converted!

This movie does look good, and I'll look into renting it. Buuuuuuuuuuut.....as someone from the United States (Not Canada or Mexico that are also in North America, or from any of the countries in South America) I have to say we do okay with the violent, psychological films sometimes....Silence of the Lambs, Seven, Blue Velvet, Dressed to Kill....that's off the top of my head. I'm not arguing with you, PK- just tossing out some HEY! ALL INCLUSIVE "AMERICANS"-ARE-FULL-OF-SUCK TALK ISN'T FUN conversation. Softening with a smiley------> =D because I swear I'm not the PC police. No, really. ♥ Don't fear me. If you ever have a specific ~It sucked when Hollywood ruined THESE movies~ or ~the US really fucked up the world then they made THIS series of decisions~ sort of post you'd like to make, it's highly likely we'll be in agreement.

Aha! Now we're getting somewhere! You don't like Hollywood remakes of Japanese thrillers. Hmmm....I can't have an informed discussion on this topic with you because I've never seen the originals, but I did enjoy the Ring and I adore the movie Dark Water (partially because of my deep and carnal love of Jennifer Connelly ♥)

Subtitled movies can be a hard sell here, so I'm not sure if the thought is so much, "Hey! Let's try to do this BETTER!" as "This is such an excellent story, and hardly anyone in the US has seen it...let's make it accessible in a way that US viewers can immerse themselves in the experience."

Again, I won't argue with you regarding the Japanese originals being much, much better. I'd assume that they are, even though I've never seen them. I can't agree that The Ring and Dark Water sucked, though. I'll agree to disagree! =D Insult Jennifer Connelly to me and we might have to meet in New Zealand for fistacuffs....
